The Intel Xeon X5560 was a server/workstation processor that featured four cores. It is part of the Xeon range, with the Gainestown architecture and Socket 1366. Intel Hyper-Threading basically doubles the core count to eight threads. To improve overall system performance, up to two Xeon X5560 CPUs can be used in a multi-processor (SMP) configuration. The Xeon X5560 has 8 MB of L3 cache and runs at 2.8 GHz by default, but can increase to 3.2 GHz depending on the workload. The Xeon X5560 is built on a 45 nm production node with 731 million transistors.
